Snow Day

After a blizzard buried Portland with 16 inches of snow, I spent the early morning hours of Monday, February 13 riding around with Dave Blackwell, a member of the city's Parks and Recreation Department, as he plowed lots across town. Between several fire department stations and public parking lots, Dave stopped to help several snowed-in motorists, including an EMT from Boston whose shift started in just a few hours. Dave himself was in the middle of a 16-hour shift that started at 11pm the previous night, and after catching some sleep would likely be repeating the same the next day. See some additional photos of the storm here via The Forecaster.
